WhatsApp, a widely used messaging app, comes with a range of features, one of which is the ability to block a contact. There may be instances where you suspect that someone has blocked you. In this blog post, we will show you how to confirm if this is the case. Before we proceed, it’s important to note that WhatsApp has made this a bit tricky in a bid to protect the privacy of users. Therefore, no method can give a 100% confirmation. However, a combination of the below mentioned signs can give you a pretty strong indication.
1. Check the “Last Seen” Status
The “Last Seen” feature on WhatsApp lets you see the last time your contact was active on the platform. If you cannot see the “Last Seen” time of a contact that you used to see before, then it’s possible you have been blocked. However, this is not definitive proof, as the user might have simply disabled their “Last Seen” status in their privacy settings.
2. Look for Profile Updates
Another way to check if you have been blocked is by looking at the suspected contact’s profile picture. If you can’t see changes in their profile picture, this could mean you have been blocked. Again, this is not a definitive sign, as the user could have merely chosen not to update their profile picture.
3. Check for Delivery of Messages
When you send a message on WhatsApp, you usually see two check marks once the message is delivered. The first check signifies that the message has been sent from your device, and the second check indicates that the message has been delivered to the recipient’s phone. If your messages are only showing one check mark, it might mean that you have been blocked. However, there can be other reasons for this, such as the recipient’s phone being off or out of data.
4. Attempt a WhatsApp Call
If you are still unsure, you can make a WhatsApp call to the suspected contact. If they have blocked you, the call will not go through. Do note that if the call doesn’t go through, it doesn’t necessarily confirm a block. It could also mean that the person is not connected to the internet or their phone is switched off.
5. Create a WhatsApp Group
The last method is to try and create a group and add the suspected contact. When you try to add a contact that has blocked you into the group, WhatsApp will not allow it and you will receive a message saying you do not have authorization to add this contact.
It’s important to remember that these checks are not definitive. WhatsApp has designed its blocking feature to be ambiguous in order to protect user privacy. If you suspect that you’ve been blocked and it’s causing you distress, it might be best to reach out to the person by other means to clear up any misunderstandings.
