How To Quickly Delete Emails In Gmail

With the sheer number of emails we receive on a daily basis, our inboxes can quickly become cluttered. If you’re using Google’s popular email service, Gmail, you’ll be glad to know there are some nifty tricks to help you quickly get rid of unwanted or outdated messages. Here’s how you can quickly delete emails in Gmail.

Selecting Multiple Emails

The most straightforward way to delete multiple emails in Gmail is to select them individually. To do this, you can click on the square checkboxes that appear to the left of your emails in the inbox. By default, Gmail shows 50 conversations per page. If you’d like to delete more than that, you can adjust your settings to show up to 100 conversations per page.

Select All Emails

If you want to delete all emails in your inbox or a particular label, you can use the “Select all” trick. Here’s how:

  • Click the checkbox in the top left corner above your inbox.

  • A message will appear at the top of your inbox saying “All 50 conversations on this page are selected. Select all conversations in Primary.”

  • Click the “Select all conversations in Primary” link to select all emails in your inbox.

Delete Selected Emails

Once you’ve selected the emails you want to delete, click the Trash icon at the top of your inbox. The selected emails will be moved to the Trash. Please note, emails are not permanently deleted when moved to the trash. They will stay in the trash for 30 days before being permanently deleted. If you want to permanently delete emails immediately, you’ll need to manually empty your trash.

Empty Your Trash

To empty your trash and permanently delete emails:

  • On the left side of the page, scroll down until you see “More”. Click on it.

  • Find “Trash” in the expanded menu and click on it.

  • At the top of your Trash, click “Empty Trash now”.

Deleting emails with search

You can also use Gmail’s search function to find and delete emails. For example, if you want to delete all emails from a particular sender, you can type the sender’s email address into the search bar, press enter to bring up all emails from that sender, select all, and then hit the Trash button.

In the search bar, type: from:example@example.com
Then, hit enter.

Conclusion
