If you are a regular user of Instagram, you have probably come across the new feature called Instagram Reels. It’s akin to the short, lively videos common on TikTok. This feature allows users to create 15-second video clips set to music and share them to their Stories, Explore Feed, and the new Reels tab on a user’s profile. Today, we’ll teach you how to tag in these Instagram Reels in just a few simple steps.
Step 1: Create or Select Your Reel
First things first, you need to either create a new Reel or select one that you have already created. To create a new Reel, tap the camera icon at the top left of the Instagram home screen, then select ‘Reels’ at the bottom of the screen. Press and hold the capture button to start recording or upload a video from your gallery.
Step 2: Tap on the Text Button
After you have your video set, you’ll want to click on the ‘Aa’ text icon on the top right side of the screen. This button allows you to add text, hashtags, and tags to your Reel.
Step 3: Tagging Your Friends or Brands
In the text box, you’ll want to type the ‘@’ symbol followed by the username of the friend, brand, or account you want to tag. A dropdown list should appear as you type, allowing you to choose the correct account from a list of profiles. Once you’ve selected the right account, their username will appear in your text box.
Step 4: Positioning Your Tag
After adding a tag, you can decide where you want that tag to appear in your Reel. Simply drag the text box with the tag to your preferred position in the Reel. If you want the tag to be more noticeable, you can change the text color or add a background to it.
Step 5: Share Your Reel
Now that you’ve successfully tagged someone, it’s time to share your Reel. Just click the ‘>’ icon on the lower right side of the screen, add a caption if you wish, and then hit ‘Share to Reels’. And voila, you have tagged in an Instagram Reel!
Remember, tagging in Instagram Reels is a great way to engage with others, give credit where it’s due, or even collaborate with your favorite brands. Now that you know how to do it, start creating and tagging!
