Google Slides is an incredible tool that aids in creating, sharing, and presenting slideshows. Despite its many benefits, some users get stuck trying to carry out particular functions, such as making an image transparent. This blog post will guide you through the process.
Why Make an Image Transparent?
Transparent images have immense aesthetic appeal. They can blend in smoothly with your slides’ backgrounds, or their translucent nature can give an artistic touch to your slides. They can also allow text and other images to be visible beneath them.
How to Make an Image Transparent in Google Slides
Google Slides does not allow direct image transparency. However, there is a simple workaround using the ‘Shape’ option. Follow the steps below:
-
Open your Google Slides and navigate to the slide where you want to add a transparent image.
-
Click on the Shape button, choose any shape of your preference, and draw it on the slide.
-
Once you’ve drawn the shape, click on the shape to select it. Then click on the Fill color button, and choose the image you want to make transparent by clicking Image in the drop-down list.
Note: You can upload the image from your computer, use a URL, or choose from your Google Drive.
-
At this point, the image will cover your shape. Click on the shape and select Format options.
-
In the Format Options panel, drag the Transparency slider to make your image as transparent as you desire.
And voilà! You now have a transparent image in Google Slides.
Keep in mind that this method will make the entire image transparent, including all parts and not just the background. If you want to make only the background of an image transparent, you will need to use a different method, such as photo editing software, before uploading it to Google Slides.
