Adobe Illustrator is a widely used software among designers for creating and modifying vector graphics. A common task in this software is changing the background, and in this tutorial, you will be guided on how to do so.
Step 1: Open the Adobe Illustrator Program
To get started, you’ll first need to open the Adobe Illustrator program. You can do this by clicking on the Adobe Illustrator icon on your desktop or in your program files.
Step 2: Open the File
Once Adobe Illustrator is open, click on the File menu at the top left corner of the screen, then click on Open. Browse to the file that you want to change the background of and click on Open again.
Step 3: Create a New Layer
Next, go to the Layers panel on the right side of the screen. Click on the Create New Layer button at the bottom of the panel. This new layer will serve as your background.
Step 4: Select the Rectangle Tool
Now, from the toolbar on the left side of the screen, select the Rectangle Tool. This tool allows you to create a shape that will cover the entire artboard, forming your new background.
Step 5: Create a Rectangle
Click and drag the Rectangle Tool across the entire artboard to create a new rectangle. Make sure it covers the entire area of the artboard.
Step 6: Colour the Rectangle
With your rectangle still selected, go to the Toolbar and click on the Fill color square. Choose the color you want your background to be. Your rectangle will now fill with that color, providing a new background for your design.
Step 7: Send the Rectangle to the Back
Finally, you need to send the rectangle to the back of all the layers so that it acts as a background. To do this, go to the Object menu at the top of the screen, hover over Arrange, and click on Send to Back.
And there you have it! Now you know how to change the background in Adobe Illustrator. Remember, changing the background color of your design can dramatically affect the mood and message of your work, so make sure to choose a color that fits your design goals.
