Greetings and welcome to our latest blog entry! In this post, we will provide a comprehensive tutorial on how to properly format text in Trello, a widely used project management platform. By implementing basic formatting guidelines, you can significantly enhance the organization and efficiency of your Trello boards.
Markdown in Trello
Trello uses a formatting system called Markdown, a type of markup language that’s designed to be easy to write and read. Markdown allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, which then converts to a structurally valid HTML.
Formatting Text
There are many ways to format text in Trello to make it more readable and organized. Here are the basic formatting options:
- Bold Text: To make text bold, you can wrap your text in double asterisks or double underscores. For example, **bold text** or __bold text__ would both end up as bold text.
- Italic Text: To make text italic, you can wrap your text in single asterisks or single underscores. For example, *italic text* or _italic text_ would both end up as italic text.
- Strikethrough: To strike through text, you can use two tildes. For example, ~~strikethrough text~~ would end up as strikethrough text.
Adding Links and Images
Adding links and images to your Trello cards can be very useful. Here is how:
- Links: To create a link, you can wrap the link text in brackets, followed immediately by the URL in parentheses. For example, [Go to Google](https://www.google.com) would end up as a clickable link: Go to Google.
- Images: To add an image, you use an exclamation mark, followed by the alt text in brackets, followed by the image URL in parentheses. For example, would display the image from the provided URL, with “Trello Logo” as the alt text.
Creating Lists
Lists are a great way to organize information. Here is how to create them:
- Unordered Lists: To create an unordered (bullet point) list, you can use asterisks, plus signs or hyphens. For example:
* Item 1 * Item 2 * Item 3
- Ordered Lists: To create an ordered (numbered) list, you can simply use numbers followed by periods. For example:
1. Item 1 2. Item 2 3. Item 3
And that’s it! You now know the basics of how to format text in Trello. Use this guide as a reference whenever you need to format your content, and you’ll be a Trello power user in no time!
