With Snapchat being a staple of many people’s daily routine, the need to access it on different platforms has become a necessity. Although Snapchat is primarily designed for mobile devices, you can still get it on your Mac. Today, we’ll walk you through the process of getting Snapchat on your Mac.
Using an Android Emulator
To run Snapchat on your Mac, you need to use an Android emulator. This is a type of software that emulates the Android operating system on your computer. There are many Android emulators out there, but for this guide, we’ll be using Bluestacks, as it’s considered one of the most reliable and widely used.
Step 1: Download and Install Bluestacks
The first step is to download Bluestacks. Visit the official Bluestacks website and download the latest version for Mac. After downloading the file, open it and follow the instructions to install Bluestacks on your Mac.
Step 2: Install Snapchat
Once you have Bluestacks installed, open the application. It will present you with an interface similar to a typical Android device. From here, click on the Google Play Store icon, then search for Snapchat.
Click on Install and wait for the Snapchat app to be installed.
Step 3: Log into Snapchat
Once Snapchat is installed, click on the Snapchat icon in the Bluestacks interface to open the app. Now, you can log into your Snapchat account, or create a new one if you prefer.
Using ARChon Runtime for Chrome
If you are not interested in downloading a full emulator like Bluestacks, you can use ARChon Runtime for Chrome. This allows you to run Android apps directly in your Chrome browser.
Step 1: Install ARChon
You can download ARChon from its GitHub page. Once downloaded, unpack the .zip file. In Chrome, go to chrome://extensions, switch on ‘Developer mode’, click on ‘Load unpacked’, and select the ARChon folder.
Step 2: Get the Snapchat APK
The next step is to download the Snapchat APK. You can get this from various APK download sites. Once downloaded, you need to convert it for use with ARChon.
Step 3: Convert and Run Snapchat
To convert the APK, you can use a tool like the ChromeOS APK to convert it. After conversion, load the Snapchat APK in Chrome using the same ‘Load unpacked’ method you used to load ARChon. Now you can run Snapchat directly in your browser!
Keep in mind that these methods are not officially supported by Snapchat, so some features may not work perfectly. However, for basic Snapchat usage on your Mac, they should do the trick.
