Google Slides is an impressive tool for creating presentations, but did you know it also offers a feature to make your background transparent? This feature can transform your slides into a more visually engaging and professional-looking presentation. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps on how to make your Google Slides’ background transparent.
Important Note
Before we dive in, it’s important to note that Google Slides itself doesn’t directly allow you to make an image’s background transparent. However, there’s a simple workaround using Google Drawings, another free tool from Google. So let’s get started!
Step 1: Open Google Drawings
First, head over to Google Drawings (drawings.google.com). If it’s your first time using Google Drawings, you might need to sign in with your Google account.
Step 2: Upload Your Image
Click on “File” then “Open”, or click on the “+” on the home screen to create a new drawing. Then, click on “Insert” then “Image” to upload the image you want to make transparent.
Step 3: Make the Background Transparent
After you’ve uploaded your image, click on it to select it. Then, choose the “Format options” on the top right, and select the “Adjustments” tab.
In the Adjustments tab, you will see a slider labeled as “Transparency.” Drag this slider to the right until you achieve your desired level of transparency.
Format options > Adjustments > Transparency
Step 4: Save and Download Your Image
Once you’re happy with the level of transparency, click on “File” then “Download” to save your image. Google Drawings offers a range of file formats, but for the purpose of preserving transparency, we recommend you choose “PNG”.
Step 5: Insert the Image into Your Google Slides
Now, go back to your Google Slides presentation and click on “Insert” then “Image” to upload the image you just downloaded. And voila! You now have a slide with a transparent background.
Conclusion
While Google Slides doesn’t directly support transparent backgrounds, this method provides a simple workaround that proves to be effective. It might require a little bit of extra work, but the result is worth it. Happy creating!
