If you’re a regular user of Facebook, you’ve likely come across the ‘Suggested for You’ feature, which offers recommendations based on your browsing habits, likes, and interests. While this feature can sometimes be useful, there are times when you might want to eliminate these suggestions to declutter your feed. This blog post will guide you through the steps to get rid of ‘Suggested for You’ on Facebook.
Disabling ‘Suggested for You’ on Desktop
To get rid of these suggestions on your desktop, follow these steps:
- Log into your Facebook account.
- Click on the downward arrow at the top right corner of the screen to open settings.
- Select Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- In the left sidebar, click on Ads.
- In the Ads settings page, you’ll find a section named Ad settings. Here, you can control the kind of ads you see.
- Under the Ads based on data from partners setting, click on Not allowed.
- Do the same for the Ads based on your activity on Facebook Company Products that you see elsewhere setting.
- Click on Save.
Now, Facebook will stop showing you ‘Suggested for You’ based on your data from partners and your activity on Facebook Company Products.
Disabling ‘Suggested for You’ on Mobile
To get rid of these suggestions on your mobile device, follow these steps:
- Open the Facebook app on your device.
- Tap on the three lines at the bottom right corner of the screen to open the menu.
- Scroll down and tap on Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Under the Ads section, tap on Ad Preferences > Ad Settings.
- Under the Ads based on data from partners setting, tap on No.
- Do the same for the Ads based on your activity on Facebook Company Products that you see elsewhere setting.
By following these steps, you can significantly reduce the number of ‘Suggested for You’ posts that appear on your Facebook News Feed. Remember, however, that Facebook’s algorithms are continuously learning and evolving, so you may need to adjust your settings periodically.
Note: Disabling these settings does not mean you will see fewer ads on Facebook; it just means the ads you see won’t be based on your personal data.
