Removing Someone from a Slack Channel

To remove a user from a specific Slack channel, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Slack application and navigate to the channel from which you want to remove the user.
  2. Click on the channel name at the top of the screen. This will open a dropdown menu.
  3. Click on ‘Member List’ or ‘People’ in the dropdown menu. This will open a sidebar showing all the current members of the channel.
  4. Find the name of the person you want to remove, click on the three dots next to their name, and select ‘Remove from Channel’.

Removing Someone from a Slack Workspace

To remove a user from the entire Slack workspace, the process is slightly different:

  1. Open the Slack application and click on your workspace name in the top left corner.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select ‘Settings & Administration’, then ‘Manage Members’.
  3. This will open a list of all the members in your workspace. Find the name of the person you want to remove.
  4. Click on the three dots next to their name and select ‘Remove from workspace’.
  5. You’ll be asked to confirm this action, as removing a member will delete their account and all associated data. If you’re sure, click ‘Yes, remove them’.

Note: If you want to deactivate an account without removing all the user’s data, use the ‘Deactivate account’ option instead of ‘Remove from workspace’.
