How To Share Google Analytics Access

As a business owner or marketer, there are instances where you may need to share your Google Analytics data with other members of your team or with external consultants. Google Analytics offers a simple, straightforward process for granting access to other users without the need to share your Google login credentials. In this blog post, we will walk you through the steps to share your Google Analytics access.

Step 1: Log in to your Google Analytics Account

The first step to sharing your Google Analytics access is to log in to your account. Ensure you have the necessary administrative permissions to proceed with the next steps.

Step 2: Go to ‘Admin’

Once you are logged in, locate and click on the ‘Admin‘ button on the lower left corner of the screen. This will take you to the admin panel where you can manage access and settings for your Google Analytics account.

Step 3: Select the Relevant Account or Property

Google Analytics allows you to manage access at three levels: account, property, and view. Choose the level at which you want the user to gain access. Click on either ‘Account User Management‘, ‘Property User Management‘, or ‘View User Management‘, depending on the level of access you want to grant.

Step 4: Add User

Click on the ‘+’, then on ‘Add users‘. Here, you will be required to fill in the email address of the user to whom you want to grant access. Ensure that the user has a Google account, as Google Analytics only allows access to Google users.

Step 5: Set Permissions

After entering the user’s email address, you will have to select the permissions you want to grant. The permissions include:

- Read & Analyze: The user can read and analyze data, create personal assets, and collaborate.
- Collaborate: In addition to 'Read & Analyze' permissions, the user can also create shared assets.
- Edit: The user can perform all tasks except managing users and sending billable data.
- Manage Users: The user can manage account users, permissions, and settings.

Select the permissions that best suit the user’s role and responsibilities.

Step 6: Notify the User

Once you have set the permissions, click on the ‘Notify this user by email‘ checkbox if you want Google to send an email notification to the user. Click on ‘Add‘ to add the user.

And that’s it! You have successfully shared your Google Analytics access. The new user can now log in to their own Google account and access the Google Analytics data for which they have been granted permission.

Conclusion

Google Analytics is a powerful tool for gaining insights into your website’s traffic and audience. Being able to share this data with your team or consultants can greatly enhance your marketing efforts. Remember to only grant necessary permissions and to regularly audit your Google Analytics account to ensure that only relevant parties have access.
