Google Analytics is a crucial tool for all website owners as it offers valuable information about user activity, traffic sources, and other important data. Were you aware that you can monitor multiple websites using just one Google Analytics account? In this guide, we’ll demonstrate how to do so.
Step 1: Set Up Your Google Analytics Account
If you haven’t already, sign up for a free Google Analytics account. You’ll need a Google account to do this. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be taken to your Google Analytics dashboard. This is where all your website data will be displayed.
Step 2: Create a New Property
For each website you’d like to track, you’ll need to create a new property in Google Analytics. Click on the Admin tab at the bottom left corner of your dashboard, then click on Create Property.
In the resulting screen, you’ll be asked to enter some basic information about your website such as its name, URL, industry category, and reporting time zone. Fill in these details and click on Create at the bottom of the page.
Note: You can create up to 50 properties under one Google Analytics account. If you need to track more websites, you’ll need to create additional accounts.
Step 3: Install the Tracking Code
Once you’ve created a property, Google Analytics will provide you with a unique tracking code. This code needs to be installed on every page of your website that you want to track.
You can find your tracking code by navigating to Admin > Tracking Info > Tracking Code.
Simply copy this code and paste it into the head section of your HTML code. If you’re using a CMS like WordPress, you can use a plugin to easily add the code to your site. Just make sure it’s installed on every page you’d like to track.
Step 4: Verify the Tracking Code
It’s important to verify that your tracking code is installed correctly. You can do this by navigating to Real-Time > Overview in your Google Analytics dashboard. If you see data appearing here, it means your code is working and tracking user activity on your site.
If no data appears, check to make sure your tracking code is installed correctly and that it’s on every page you want to track.
Step 5: Repeat for Each Website
To track multiple websites, simply repeat steps 2-4 for each one. Remember, each website should have its own property and unique tracking code.
