Google Maps is an incredibly useful tool that has transformed the way we navigate our world. One of its often overlooked features is the ability to view locations in 3D, offering a unique perspective on cities, landscapes, and landmarks. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the steps to use this feature.
Viewing 3D in Google Maps on Your Computer
To access 3D view on your desktop or laptop, follow these steps:
- Open Google Maps in your web browser. You can do this by typing www.google.com/maps into your browser’s address bar and hitting Enter.
- Enter the name of the location you want to view in 3D in the search bar at the top left corner of the screen and press Enter.
- Click on the “Satellite” button located at the bottom left corner of your screen. This will switch your view from the default map view to a satellite view.
- Once you are in Satellite view, you should see a button labeled “3D” at the bottom right of your screen. Click on this button to enable 3D view. If you’re using tilt and rotate options, use the “Ctrl” key plus the arrow keys for navigation.
Viewing 3D in Google Maps on Your Mobile Device
Here’s how to activate 3D view in Google Maps on your smartphone or tablet:
- Open the Google Maps app on your device.
- Enter your desired location in the search bar at the top of the screen and tap “Search”.
- Tap on the “Satellite” button at the top right corner of the screen to switch to satellite view.
- To view in 3D, use two fingers to swipe up on the screen. This will tilt the map and provide a 3D perspective. To navigate, simply drag your fingers across the screen.
Note: The 3D view is not available for all locations. If 3D view is not available, the map will stay in Satellite view.
The Google Maps 3D feature provides a fantastic way to explore new areas or get a different perspective on familiar places. Whether you’re planning a trip, studying geography, or just satisfying your curiosity, the 3D view can make your Google Maps experience even more interesting and engaging.
