How To View History On Google Slides

Google Slides, a component of Google Workspace, is a handy tool for creating presentations. One of its key features is its ability to save a detailed version history of your slides. This means you can view the changes you or others have done on the slides over time. This blog post will show you how to view the history on Google Slides.

Step 1: Open Your Google Slides Presentation

Firstly, you need to open your Google Slides presentation. To do this, go to the Google Slides homepage, click on the presentation you want to view the history of, and it will open in a new browser tab.

Step 2: Click on “File” in the Menu Bar

Once your presentation is open, locate the “File” option in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on it to open a dropdown menu.

Step 3: Select “Version History”

In the dropdown menu, you will see a list of different options. Go to the “Version History” option, which is usually situated towards the middle of the list. Hover your mouse on it and another sub-menu will appear.

Step 4: Click on “See Version History”

In the sub-menu mentioned above, you should click on “See Version History”. This will open a panel on the right side of your screen showing the version history of your presentation.

Step 5: Viewing the Version History

The version history panel will display a list of all versions of your presentation. Each version will be timestamped and will show the name of the person who made the changes (if it’s a shared presentation). Clicking on a version will show you the specific changes that were made in that version, with added or edited parts highlighted.

To exit the version history and return to your slide, click the “X” in the top right corner of the panel.

This feature is incredibly useful for reviewing changes, reverting to previous versions, and keeping track of updates made by team members on shared presentations. It’s yet another reason to appreciate Google Slides for its user-friendly design and comprehensive features.
