Create professional designs with ease using Canva, a user-friendly graphic design platform for social media graphics, presentations, posters, and other visual content. Among its numerous features is the option to outline objects, text, and images, adding a special touch to your designs and making them more eye-catching. This tutorial will guide you through the process of outlining in Canva.
Step 1: Select an Element
The first step in creating an outline is to choose the element that you want to outline. This could be an image, a text box, a shape, or any element in your design. Just click on the element to select it.
Step 2: Duplicate the Element
Next, you will need to duplicate the element. To do this, select the element and then click on the ‘Duplicate’ button on the upper right corner of the screen or simply press Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V on your keyboard.
Step 3: Change the Color of the Duplicated Element
After duplicating the element, change its color to create the outline effect. You can select any color depending on the design you are going for. If you want the outline to be more noticeable, choose a contrasting color.
Step 4: Position the Duplicated Element
To create the outline, you need to position the duplicated element behind the original. Click on the duplicated element and then click on the ‘Position’ button at the top of the screen. Then, select ‘Backward’ to move the duplicated element one step back or ‘To back’ to move it to the very back.
Step 5: Adjust the Size and Position of the Duplicated Element
Now, it’s time to adjust the size and position of the duplicated element to create an outline effect. You can use the resizing handles to increase or decrease the size of the element. To move the element, click and drag it to the desired location.
Et voila! You’ve successfully outlined an element in Canva. Remember, practice makes perfect. Keep experimenting and you’ll soon be a Canva pro.
