Figma is a fantastic tool for designing and prototyping. However, one area that might pose a challenge for beginners is downloading a Figma file to their devices. Not to worry though, as this blog post will guide you through the process step-by-step.
Step 1: Open your Figma Account
Firstly, you need to be logged in to your Figma account. If you don’t have one, create one by visiting the Figma official site.
Step 2: Select the File
After logging in, navigate to the file you wish to download. This could be on your Drafts, Projects, or in any Team you are part of.
Step 3: Open the File
Click on the file to open it. Now, you should be able to see all the designs or prototypes within the file.
Step 4: Download the File
Once the file is open, navigate to the top right corner of the screen where you’ll see the ‘Share’ button.
Click on the ‘Share’ button and select ‘File’ from the dropdown. In the new window that pops up, click on ‘File Settings’ and then click on the button next to ‘Enable Export’.
After enabling exports, you can now download the Figma file by selecting ‘File’ > ‘Save as .fig’ from the dropdown menu.
Step 5: Save the File
A window will pop up for you to select a location to save the file. Choose your preferred location and click ‘Save’.
And that’s it! You’ve successfully downloaded a Figma file.
Note: If you are an Editor, you can also export frames in your Figma file as PDF, SVG, or images. This can be done by selecting the desired frames and choosing ‘Export’ in the right panel. From there, you can select your preferred file format and download it.
We hope this guide was helpful. Happy designing with Figma!
